Leaving Town

We are all packed and ready to go.  Please pray that no one gets hurt tomorrow when we load up the truck.  Also please pray that the roads from Calgary to Montana would not be too bad since we have recently had a lot of snow accumulate.  We trust that God's will will be done throughout our entire trip.  Thank you all for your prayers.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hello all,
I just received a frantic call from Emily asking for prayer quickly. She and Aaron along with Aaron's siblings are trying to load the moving truck today so they can leave Aaron's parent's house early Mon. (tomorrow) morning. The weather is not cooperating. The temperature is 30 degrees below 0 (Celcius) and the snow is 1 to 3 feet in places. The frantic part is that the storage unit lot has not been plowed and they are having difficulty getting to their stuff to load the truck. Also, everyone is already froze to the bone and they have just begun. Please pray for everyone's health and safety and that things will go as smoothly as possible. Emily & Aaron are planning to celebrate Christmas with Aaron's family today after the truck is packed. We are trusting that they will have the time and energy to do that as this will be their last night with Aaron's folks in Canada.
Thanks for your prayers,
Amber Firstenberger
ps. Praise the Lord, Eric (Aaron's brother-in-law) was pulling the moving truck with his truck through the snow to the storage unit as Emily and I were on the phone. Thank you Eric.

Hi all,
Emily & Aaron made it to Aaron's parent's home. It took 45 minutes to get the truck back to the storage unit, but once there it only took 1 hour to load the truck. (Thanks to all who helped in that freezing cold!)
Please pray that Emily & Aaron will be able to find a lock for the back of the truck before they leave tomorrow. (Their lock from the storage unit wouldn't fit on the truck.)
Also, pray for a wonderful family Christmas with the Evans, a good night of sleep, a safe trip, and smooth sailing at the border.
Thanks for all your prayers.

Hi all,
Emily sent me this email this morning so I thought I would pass on the info:

Hello Everyone,
Our storage unit is called Alcatraz Storage and it is 2123 Research Drive. The phone # is 260-471-8800. And the route we are taking is interstate 15 from the border. Then taking Interstate 90 east until we get close to Chicago and then interstate 39 south to I 88 east to I 355 south to I 80 which takes us east and turns into I 80-90 then south on highway 49 to highway 30 east into FORT WAYNE!!!

We hope to be there in 3 to 4 days and we will see you there. Thanks for all your prayers and support.

Love, Emily and Aaron

Hi again,
Emily just called :) It was 2:00 pm her time. They are close to Great Falls, Montana right now. They crossed the border around noon and the paperwork there only took about 1 hour - all indoors! Praise the Lord! The border officers looked at their inventory, but didn't even ask to look inside their truck - God is Good! Aaron is now a permanent resident of the USA :)
Aaron & Emily did find a lock for the back of the truck, and the truck had no trouble starting in the sub-zero weather this morning. PTL.
The roads have been good most of the trip so far, only icy in a few places and the truck has not been slipping about at all.
They plan to drive until about 8:00 tonight. Please pray that they find a nice, inexpensive hotel at that time.
If you have a USA cell phone, please do not call Emily & Aaron's cell phone right now - it costs them $1.50 per minute if they answer it (texting might be ok).
Thank you for all your prayers as they travel!

Hello Everyone,
Aaron & Emily have stopped driving for the day. They hit the road this morning at 6:30 am (their time) and drove all day until 9:20 pm, stopping only at the border and for gas/RR breaks. They had a cooler of food and Aaron's parents sent them off with 2 big baskets of food for the road. Thank you, Larry and Janice!
The truck is driving well, not getting good gas mileage, but running good. The roads were a bit snowy and twisty-turny for the first part of Montana, but has been better the last few hours.
The kids stopped at Billings, Montana, at a real nice Hampton Inn. They were excited that the indoor pool is open 24 hours and were ready to take a swim tonight to move and stretch after sitting all day in the truck. They were also looking forward to the free, hot breakfast that the hotel offers in the morning.
Praise the Lord for a good first day! Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Emily and Aaron!
Please also pray for Bryan Scott, the pastor of the church that Emily and Aaron are moving to in Ft. Wayne. Bryan is having surgery on his neck tomorrow, the 16th. It is a pretty extensive surgery; pray for the doctors, peace for Bryan and his family, and a speedy recovery. Thanks.

I forgot to tell you, I asked Emily and she said that it is free for people to text them on their cell phone (just expensive to answer calls). Sorry for any confusion earlier.

Hi All,
Emily called at 6:45 am her time saying they were getting back on the road. They will be going through the northeast corner of Wyoming and across South Dakota today. The news said bad weather is coming, please pray that it is behind the kids, not ahead of them.
Emily said she and Aaron had the pool to themselves last night and enjoyed a half hour swim. They have already had their yummy breakfast, too.
Emily also shared that she and Aaron are reading a book together on the road and getting to talk about things. Praise the Lord for quality time during the long hours in the truck.
Thanks again for your prayers for safe travel and continued quality time together!

Hi All,
Emily and Aaron left Billings, Montana at 7:30 this morning and stopped at a Comfort Inn at 8:30 pm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota time. They only made 2 quick gas stops all day. Praise the Lord the weather was good all day on the road.
Right now they are enjoying delivery pizza and a Flames game on TV. When the game is over the kids plan to get another swim before going to bed.
Aaron and Emily have decided to change routes for the rest of their trip. They will be taking I 90 to 29 S to 80, then down to Ft. Wayne.
Thanks again for all your prayers!
